Our Origins: The Story Behind Avaline

Avaline was founded in 2016 by Mr Gavin, a British-Chinese educator active in UK education since 2008. With a Master’s degree in Information Systems Management and extensive experience across UK higher education and secondary schools, he developed a deep understanding of both the learning needs of Chinese students and the expectations of world-leading British universities.

His aspiration was simple yet profound: to guide future students more smoothly toward their dreams, avoiding unnecessary detours.

Each letter of “AVALINE” reflects this aspiration:

Avaline’s Chinese name, 蔚翎 (Wèi Líng), symbolises flourishing growth and rising achievement. Our motto, florebo quocumque ferar — “I will flower everywhere I am carried”, reflects our belief in the potential within every learner.

Educational Development & Innovation

From the beginning, Avaline has specialised in preparing students for competitive UK universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. Each year in Oxford, we deliver structured interview preparation, admissions-test training, and academic development.

As Avaline expanded, we established strong partnerships across the UK and built our own curriculum pathways. In 2020, we launched our first learning centre in China, further shaping our vision of flexible, cross-border education.

Drawing on his background in Information Management, Mr Gavin introduced a study model that removes traditional constraints of time and location. Students may complete parts of their programme in China or the UK—or a combination that best suits their circumstances—making British high-school courses more accessible and cost-effective.
